Two mechanisms are at play with Vitamin C treatment. One is the ability of the C to act as an antioxidant. The other is the ability of the C to act as a prooxidant. In very different doses we can utilize both mechanisms. We are all familiar with the antioxidant application. The antioxidant Vitamin C as we know it, helps the body scavenge free radicals caused by a number of different sources both endogenous, origin from inside the body such as exercise, metabolic and psychological stress, pregnancy and childbirth, illness , and exogenous, origin from outside the body such as charred and carmelized food, ionizing radiation, Glyphosate and other organophosphate and organochlorine pesticides and herbicides. As little as one gram per day can greatly assist the immune system in scavenging free radicals.
